简短经历 Short Bio
Dr. Issei Wake is a scholar of English literature and cultural studies, currently serving as a professor at the School of International Studies at Wenzhou Business College, China. He earned his Ph.D. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo, with a research focus on narrative fragmentation, memory, and postmodern identity. His academic work spans literary theory, contemporary art, and interdisciplinary collaborations that bridge the humanities with broader social and cultural questions.
Originally from Japan, Dr. Wake has spent several years in the United States, which has shaped his international perspective and scholarly approach. So far at Wenzhou Business College, he has been teaching courses such as Practical Japanese Oral Communication and Intercultural Japanese Understanding, supporting students in developing not only language proficiency but also a nuanced understanding of cultural contexts.
His recent collaborative research project, titled "Fragmentation, Memory, and Identity: A Collaborative Exploration of Sensory Representation in Contemporary Art," explores the intersections of art, memory, and identity through multiple sensory dimensions. The project reflects Dr. Wake’s broader interest in how artistic and narrative forms respond to experiences of displacement, hybridity, and the fragmentation of modern life.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr. Wake is committed to intercultural exchange and academic collaboration. He has worked closely with both faculty and students to promote global awareness through language, literature, and cultural events. His educational philosophy emphasizes interdisciplinary inquiry, critical engagement, and creative expression as tools for understanding the complexities of today's world.
